A lump of coal or a diamond?

I would love some feedback from you.

After setting up my website, I dedicated one page to my novels, with subpages that discuss each of them. Well, that’s the plan. So far, I have only written one novel, and I’m still working on number two. Ergo, I have only one subpage (and a ‘coming soon’ one).

Anyway, I felt something wasn’t quite right; something was missing. Then it hit me. What I like when shopping for new reading material is to have a glimpse of what I’m buying, or in other words: I love checking out reading samples.

However, my first novel is still with the editor, and she mentioned that she’ll need until the end of November to finish. So, I won’t have access to a professionally edited version until later this year.

Now the big question.

What is your opinion on unedited reading samples?

Is it too risky? Could it put people off? Or is it a great way to lure readers in, letting them yearn for more?

What do you think?

It doesn’t feel right to me to tell people about my novel without allowing them to have a glimpse at what I’m offering. Therefore, I added “Reading sample” buttons, which lead to hidden pages that contain one or two chapters of each part of my debut novel.

The truth is, I’m very biased when it comes to my novel. Simply because I love it. So, give me your advice and tell me what you think about publishing snippets of unedited material.

See you soon,

Diana

I was asked why I have a blog and what I’m trying to achieve with it. To be honest, I couldn’t answer that question. At least not at that very moment. Let’s move back to a time long before my blog w
